Plant tissue culture, also called micropropagation, cloning, or in vitro culture, is a method of plant propagation that has been used since the late 1800’s. In the beginning it was limited to universities and industries becasue it was too expensive for most of us to attempt. Fortunately, industrious hobbyists, teachers, and other plant enthusiasts found ways to afford to do inexpensive tissue culture. This site and this group are dedicated to them.
Our mission is to teach and promote home/classroom plant tissue culture for the
benefit of hobbyists, students, teachers, and all plant lovers, enabling them to have a lifelong knowledge and appreciation of plant culture. We are a non-profit corporation organized in Washington state (see History page) and have just received acceptance from the IRS as a tax exempt 501(c)3 company. We hope we might qualify for grant monies that would help plant tissue culture education.
